Mark Cerrone Inc. is constructing the Breckenridge Street Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Control Project for the Buffalo Sewer Authority on Buffalo’s West Side. The work rebuilds the existing brick sewer on Breckenridge Street between West Avenue and Herkimer Street and replaces the sewers along both sides of West Avenue, from Lafayette Avenue to Breckenridge Street, with a single new combined sewer. Mark Cerrone Inc. is also reconnecting each property’s sewer laterals from the property line to the new main, constructing a new drop-pipe manhole at West Avenue and Lafayette Avenue to carry flow to the Scajaquada Tunnel, and installing a new water main along West Avenue with replacement of any lead water services encountered. Part of the Authority’s Queen City Clean Waters initiative, the project captures flow at one of the system’s most active overflow points – a site that discharged more than five million gallons of combined sewage in the past year – reducing combined sewer overflows into area waterways.
